If you've been thinking about working with a coach but aren't sure what a first conversation actually looks like, this article pulls back the curtain. A breakthrough call isn't a sales pitch in disguise; it's a focused, free 60-minute session where we map out where you are, where you want to be, and the most realistic next step. Here's exactly what we cover, who it's a fit for, how to prepare, and what happens after.

Key Takeaways

  • A breakthrough call is a free, 60-minute personalized conversation, not a generic discovery call.

  • The goal is clarity for you, whether or not you decide to work together afterward.

  • You leave with a real plan you can act on starting tomorrow.

  • No high-pressure sales, no scripted pitch, no follow-up bombardment.

  • Women over 40 who feel stuck, restarting, or unclear on what's missing tend to get the most value.

Who Breakthrough Calls Are For

Breakthrough calls are designed specifically for women over 40 navigating one of these situations:

  • You've tried multiple programs, and the weight keeps coming back

  • Something has shifted  hormones, sleep, stress, and what used to work no longer does

  • You want to lose weight sustainably without yet another extreme plan

  • You know what to do (mostly), but you can't consistently do it on your own

  • You're curious about coaching but want to understand what it actually looks like before committing

You don't need a clear goal to book the call. We can clarify the goal together.

What We Cover in the 60 Minutes

1. Where You Are Now (15 minutes)

We start with a relaxed conversation about your current situation. Your health, your schedule, your work, your family, what's eating up your time and energy, what you've tried and how it went, what you eat in a typical day, how you sleep, how you feel. There's no judgment here. The goal is for me to understand your real life, not a curated version.

2. Where You'd Love to Be (10 minutes)

Next, we get clear on what you'd actually love to be true in 90 days. Not 30 pounds gone overnight, something realistic and meaningful. Maybe it's energy. Maybe it's not feeling controlled by food. Maybe it's fitting into clothes you love or being able to hike with your daughter or granddaughter. We define success in your terms.

3. What's Been Getting in the Way (15 minutes)

This is the most useful part of the call for most people. We look honestly at the patterns, physical, behavioral, emotional, and environmental, that have kept you stuck. Often, simply naming what's been in the way is a relief. Sometimes the pattern is hormonal. Sometimes it's stress. Sometimes it's a fixable structural issue (your kitchen, your schedule, your boundaries). We name it so we can move it.

4. A Real Plan You Could Start Tomorrow (15 minutes)

Before we hang up, you will walk away with concrete next steps. Not a generic handout, your steps, based on what we discussed. Whether or not you decide to work with me, the plan is yours to keep and use.

5. Whether Coaching Is a Fit (5 minutes)

At the end of the call, I'll be honest with you about whether ongoing coaching seems like a good fit. Sometimes it's not — and I'll say so. Sometimes it is — and I'll explain what working together would look like, what it costs, and what to expect. No pressure to decide on the call.

What I Don't Do

It feels important to name what won't happen, because so many "free calls" turn into something else.

  • No high-pressure sales: If you say "I want to think about it," you get to think about it. No urgency tactics.

  • No generic advice: I don't give canned answers. The plan you leave with is built from your conversation.

  • No follow-up bombardment: One follow-up email a week after the call. That's it.

  • No upselling unrelated products: No supplements, no MLM, no surprise add-ons.

How to Prepare

The more honest you can be on the call, the more useful it is. To prepare:

  • Block uninterrupted time: 60 minutes, somewhere private and comfortable.

  • Have a glass of water and a notebook nearby.

  • Think about three things: What's bothering you most right now? What have you tried? What would feel like a win in 90 days?

  • Show up as you are. No need to dress up or have a clear plan. The clarity comes from the conversation.

What Happens After

Within 24 hours of the call, you'll receive:

  • A short email summarizing what we discussed and your next steps

  • Any resources I mentioned during the call

  • If coaching feels like a fit, a clear next step (with no expiry date or pressure)

That's it. No daily follow-up emails, no salesy texts, no surprises.

Booking Your Call

Booking is simple. Visit Coaching with Kym and click the breakthrough call link. Pick a time that works, fill out a short pre-call form, and I'll see you on Zoom.

If timing isn't right, the page is always there. Bookmark it for when you're ready.

A Note on Why I Do This Work

I've been in health and wellness since 2003, first as a coach at Herbal Magic, then as the owner of multiple centres, and now as a remote accountability coach for women over 40. I'm 61. I've personally navigated the hormonal transition. I know how isolating, frustrating, and confusing weight management can become in midlife. I started Coaching with Kym because most programs aren't built for the body you have at this age and you deserve one that is.

Whether or not we end up working together, I want you to walk away from the call with something useful. That's what the hour is for.

Conclusion

A breakthrough call is exactly what it sounds like  a chance to break through what's been stuck for too long, in 60 honest minutes, with no pressure to decide anything afterward. If you're tired of trying alone, this is a low-risk, high-clarity place to start.
